Tara At Work

Tara, who has a seizure disorder, has a strong drive to live independently. After brain surgery to help manage her seizure disorder, she was ready to get back to the workforce and was referred to OCCK, Inc.’s Workforce Solutions (WFS) Department. With the help of her Employment Consultant, Tara focused on honing her skills and building new ones to prepare for her job search.

Despite several interviews that seemed promising, Tara didn’t receive any job offers initially, which caused her some frustration. Workforce Solutions was there to remind her that the right position would come along, and Tara made up her mind to not give up!

That perseverance paid off when Tara landed a job as a dietary aide at a local nursing home. Though she faced some challenges in the role, like navigating the large building and managing a complex task list, she remained committed. After discussing her situation with her supervisors, they collaborated to adjust her responsibilities, aligning them more closely with her strengths.

Tara now works in housekeeping, where she thrives with a clear set of tasks each shift. She enjoys engaging with residents and takes pride in helping maintain a clean, welcoming environment. Tara’s adaptability and hard work have led her to a role where she can succeed and feel fulfilled every day.
