Blake’ s journey with OCCK, Inc.’s Workforce Solutions began during his internship with Project SEARCH at Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC). From the beginning, he knew his dream was to work in a kitchen, one day becoming a cook in a restaurant. His passion grew during his rotation in the SRHC kitchen.
As spring approached, Blake eagerly applied for a position in the kitchen at Ellsworth County Medical Center (ECMC), where he was quickly invited for an interview. He then received the job offer at ECMC; he was so excited when he received the job offer, he couldn’t wait to call his Mom with the good news!
Blake officially started his job at ECMC on March 28, beginning with three days a week in the kitchen. It wasn’t long before his hard work was noticed, and they added a fourth day to his schedule! Now, he’s proudly clocking in around 32 hours a week.
After reaching his goals, a final meeting was held with Workforce Solutions. Blake was excited to share a special moment with the OCCK staff: for his 21st birthday, he got to pick out the lunch menu for the entire hospital! They even included a “Happy 21st Birthday, Blake!” message on the menu that day. Blake is thrilled to be working at ECMC and plans to stay as long as he can.
